Roster Move: JR Graham to the DL, Cole McCurry to Mississippi
PEARL, MS — RHP J.R. Graham has been placed on the disabled list with a right shoulder strain, retroactive to May 14. LHP Cole McCurry has been reassigned to Double-A Mississippi from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Graham, 23, is 1-3 with a 4.04 ERA in eight starts for the M-Braves this season. The California native entered the 2013 season ranked by Baseball America as the second-best prospect in the Braves system. In his last start, Graham worked two frames before exiting after throwing his warm-up pitches in the third. Graham was selected by the Braves in the fourth round of the 2011 draft.
McCurry, 27, was 0-1 with one save and a 4.15 ERA in 11 outings for the G-Braves. McCurry had a rough outing on May 9 where he gave up five earned runs in one inning. Without that outing, the Chandler, NC, native has a 1.56 ERA. McCurry was acquired by the Braves from Baltimore for cash considerations on June 16, 2012. He entered the 2013 season with a career record of 39-42 and a 3.75 ERA in six minor league seasons.
The Mississippi roster has 25 active players, 6 disabled and 1 ML rehab.
